**The MHSC invites bids to appoint a service provider to undertake RESEARCH PROJECT COE 240601: “Assess and quantify dust contributing sources at the intake airways in South African gold, coal and diamond underground mines.”** Suitable bidders are teams with occupational hygiene expertise, dust modelling (e.g., CFD/tracer methods), mine ventilation experience, and demonstrated applied research capability. The project runs 18 months and expects extensive field sampling, modelling, and dissemination of best-practice guidelines.

#### Requirements
- Mandatory compliance: SAIOH registration for the occupational hygienist/technologist; Tax compliance (SARS PIN/CSD as applicable); Central Supplier Database (CSD) registration; use of official forms (SBD1, SBD4, SBD6.1, SBD3, and, if awarded, SBD7). 
- Experience and qualifications: at least 5 years in applied research; team must include members with (i) 10+ years in occupational hygiene with dust exposure, (ii) 5+ years applying modelling (CFD/tracer), (iii) 10+ years in mine ventilation; relevant CVs and qualifications required.
- Technical scope: literature review; identification and quantification of dust sources along intake airways; gravimetric sampling for RCS and coal dust; real-time monitoring; exposure profiling; CFD/tracer modelling where feasible; evaluation of dust control strategies; development of real-time monitoring approaches and draft best-practice guidelines; stakeholder workshop.
- Evaluation: mandatory technical check; minimum 70% in Stage 2; price and specific-goals evaluation (80/20 or 90/10 as applicable); preference points claimable for targeted goals (Black ownership, Black women, Youth) with appropriate documentation.
- Additional: adherence to POPIA, OHS obligations, and MHSC GCC/SCC; due diligence may be conducted on shortlisted bidders.
