#### Overview
**This RFQ seeks a service provider for the supply, delivery and offloading of ballast in the Metrorail Gauteng region.** Bidders should have ballast supply/logistics capability, rail/track (Perway) experience, and relevant certifications (CIDB registration; ballast conforming to SABS 1083, etc.).

#### Requirements
- Ballast must meet SABS 1083 (latest) with petrographic analysis and specified physical/chemical criteria (Appendix A–C). 
- Loading/offloading: ballast loaded at supplier siding onto AY wagons; PRASA handles rail transport; contractor to spread and level ballast on site with signing off by PRASA Technical Officer/Track Inspector; weekend/public-holiday offloads may be required.
- Alternative delivery by road where AY wagons unavailable; ex-works pricing (supplier bears transport costs).
- Health and safety compliance; track occupations arranged by PRASA; contractor provides all plant, equipment, labour; QA Plan and Project Execution Plan required.
- Ballast stones must pass stringent tests (soundness, abrasion, gradings, voids, density). Damage to PRASA assets is contractor’s responsibility.
- Occupations, plant maintenance, logbooks, and on-site responsibilities outlined (TLB/front-end loader, operator requirements).
