- Public liability insurance of at least R5m (proof)
- Registration as Pest Control Officer (certificate)
- Chainsaw Operator Certificate (certificate)
- Herbicide Applicator Certificate (certificate)
- Registration of workers with the Compensation Fund (certificate)
- Additional: bidders must be trained in safety, climbing, rigging; state employees may not bid
