Overview

Procurement of a service provider to render comprehensive equine (horse) care to the Tshwane Metro Police Department for a period not exceeding three months. Bidders should have substantial equine care experience, veterinary oversight capabilities, and compliance with animal welfare laws; must be registered on the Central Supplier Database (CSD) with a valid CSD number (Compulsory).

Requirements

• Compliance with animal welfare statutes: Animal Protection Act, SPCA Act, Performing Animals Protection Act, Animal Feeds Act.
• Site and facility readiness within City of Tshwane; minimum ~20 hectares; paddocks, training facilities, loading area, parking, saddle room, changing facilities, horse washing bay, security.
• Staffing: on-site stable manager 24/7; City-appointed equine veterinary surgeon 24/7; one qualified groom per four horses; staff CVs and background checks within 48 hours of appointment.
• Veterinary/medical: daily horse temperature logs; SAAPF-certified farrier; veterinary dentistry; vaccinations (AHS, equine influenza, tetanus) and monthly deworming; comprehensive records; secure medication storage; veterinary oversight.
• Operations: transport arrangements for non-operational horses; all transport by bidder; environmental disposal of deceased horses; incident/defect reporting and 24-hour repair commitments.
