Overview

Appointment of a panel of inbound roundlog transport service providers for SAFCOL for a period of three years, covering short-haul, direct-to-mill and long-haul operations across SA plantations. Bidders should have forestry transport experience, a capable fleet, and compliance with SAFCOL SHEQ/IMS, safety, and procurement requirements (RFB004/2026).

Requirements

• Proven roundlog inbound transport experience in forestry; capacity to deliver SH/DTM/LH with/without backhaul.
• Minimum fleet/equipment: three-wheel loggers or self-loading trucks; compliant truck configurations for SH, DTM, LH; log length specs.
• Compliance: SAFCOL SHEQ standards, IMS, BOPs, FSC principles; OHS and environmental rules; safety inductions.
• Staffing and safety: on-site supervisors, at least one trained first aider per operation, SHE reps, safety officer; PPE and route/tracking devices.
• Labour and governance: valid IDs/work permits, reputable with Worker's Compensation Fund, UIF; appropriate employment contracts; minimum wage adherence.
• Legal/financial: tax compliance (PIN or CSD), B-BBEE certificate or sworn affidavit; public liability insurance min R5 million.
• Contracting: signed JV/consortia agreements if applicable; back-to-back agreements with principals where subcontracting; confidentiality and supplier code of conduct adherence.
• Evaluation: minimum 70/100 for functionality; two-phase process (administrative/mandatory then functionality and physical verification).
• Documentation: all bids on official forms; CSD registration; proof of CSD/TCS where applicable.
