Who should consider bidding: operators with SACAA licencing and proof of capability in aerial firefighting, including required aircraft capacity, insurance, and local compliance. Key capabilities include at least three aircraft (1 dedicated standby, 1 ad hoc command and control, 1 ad hoc fire suppression) and base/location leasing, with appropriate crew and training.

Requirements

• SACAA licence and Aircraft Operators Certificate for fire suppression, G8/G15 capabilities.
• Minimum water capacity of 800 litres per firefighting resource; ability to troop at least 6 personnel.
• Aircraft type/capacities must be specified in the bid.
• Central landing base within GRDM area; base lease or proof of location.
• Availability of a fuel bowser; radio communications equipment.
• Insurance: public liability (≥R20,000,000) and professional indemnity; proof required.
• Minimum of three firefighting aircraft tendered (1 dedicated standby, 1 ad hoc command/control, 1 ad hoc fire suppression) with aircraft details.
• Tax/compliance: valid Tax Clearance PIN (TCS) or CSD number; municipal rates/leases for locality; B-BBEE certificates or sworn affidavits.
• Audited financial statements if applicable; training provisions for partners’ firefighters.
