Overview

Procurement of an automated benchtop electric fusion fluxer, including 36 months maintenance, for the Council for Geoscience; open-tender with a two-envelope bid process. Bidders should be capable suppliers of laboratory instrumentation with OEM authorization or representation for benchtop fusion fluxers, plus support, training and maintenance capabilities.

Requirements

• Mandatory specifications compliance (4.1): 6 loading positions; 900–1250°C furnace; emissivity resistive heaters; non-oxide ceramic mould holders; at least 10 programmable methods; non-melting insulation; enclosed fusion/pouring with viewing window; minimum throughput 25 samples/hour.
• Delivery lead time ≤ 6 weeks from award; minimum 12-month warranty; 36-month maintenance; English documentation; training; remote/on-site tech support; exchange of current Pt/Au crucibles if required.
• Documentation and governance: OEM authorization letter; full technical documentation; tax clearance and SARS PIN; Central Supplier Database (CSD) registration; BBBEE/ownership documentation; JV/consortium agreements where applicable.
• Evaluation framework: mandatory criteria (OEM authorization, spec compliance), administrative criteria (SBD forms, CSD, tax), price and specific goals (80/20) with BBBEE and black ownership targets.
• Additional terms: two-envelope bid (technical and price); service level agreement post-award; compliance with POPIA, GCC 2010, PPPFA and related policies.
