Overview

MHSC invites bids for a research project to develop practical pre-tensioning guidelines for ASP cable bolts under various rock mass conditions (CoE 240201). The work targets service providers with rock engineering, geology, laboratory testing, field-trial delivery, and stakeholder workshop capabilities, plus strong project governance and reporting. Requirements

• Minimum 5 years in applied research/consulting; project team with at least 10 years in underground rock engineering; at least 5 years in geology.
• Mandatory Chamber of Mines Certificate in Rock Mechanics (COMCRM).
• Key personnel CVs proving relevant expertise; sub-contractors aligned to scope must be named.
• Evidence of at least 3 verifiable reference letters from related research work.
• Team continuity: same individuals must execute the project; replacements must match expertise.
• Access to national/international literature review capability, lab pull-out/shear testing, field trials in at least three underground operations, data collection, and stakeholder workshop delivery.
• Central Supplier Database (CSD) registration and SARS Tax Compliance status (TIN/PIN) required; proof to be provided.
• Confirmation of occupational health and safety awareness (MHSC/OHS provisions).
• Compliance with POPIA and contractual GCC/SCC; no collusion or fronting.
