Overview

MHSC invites bids for appointment of a service provider to undertake the research project CoE 240501 “Investigation of additional control measures to be deployed to prevent underground Trackless Mobile Machinery (TMM) fires in the SAMI.” Eligible bidders should have: 5+ years in applied research/consulting; a project team with 8+ years in mechanical/electrical/TMM engineering and 10+ years in occupational hygiene/environmental engineering or safety with fire-prevention experience; relevant qualifications (master’s or honours for engineers). The contract spans 18 months (15 months research, 3 months MHSC administration). Evaluation follows PPPFA with 80/20 weighting and a Stage 1 technical pass of at least 70%.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years’ applied research/consulting experience (include company profile).
• At least one team member with ≥8 years in mechanical/electrical/TMM engineering (CVs).
• At least one team member with ≥10 years in occupational hygiene/environmental engineering/safety with fire-prevention experience.
• Relevant qualifications for engineers (Master’s preferred; provide copies).
• Compliance: registered on the Central Supplier Database (CSD); Tax Compliance Status (SARS PIN or CSD number); separate TCS for each JV/consortium member if applicable.
• Preference claims must be supported by valid B-BBEE documentation (SBD 6.1) for specific goals (black ownership, black women ownership, youth).
