Overview

Appointment of an Electrical Contractor for the Upgrading of Underground MV Cables: Phase 7 (CIDB 6EP or higher). Targeted at electrical contracting firms with MV cable experience, CIDB registration, and compliance with local regulations. Scope includes upgrading approximately 6.852 km of 150 mm MV cabling across three routes (Main Substation to Jimpayne, Hawthorne/Barclay to Wylde Road, Central Substation to Jimpayne).

Requirements

• CIDB grading: 6EP or higher; CIDB registration required.
• Central Supplier Database (CSD) registered and active; tax/compliance verification.
• Tax compliance: SARS TCS/PIN or equivalent; proof required; separate for joint ventures/sub-contractors.
• Municipal rates/taxes clearance: proof for the company and each director; no arrears beyond 90 days.
• Returnable documents: fully completed MBD forms (MBD1, MBD4, MBD5, MBD6.1, MBD8, MBD9) and other bid documents as specified (e.g., CIDB certificate, BBBEE, VAT, WCA).
• Site/briefing attendance: compulsory briefing and site visit attendance as applicable.
• Bidders must download the bid documents from the Greater Kokstad Municipality website.

How to Apply

• Submission deadline: 26 October 2026 at 12:00. Late bids are not considered.
• Submission method: sealed bid deposited in the bid box at 75 Hope Street, Kokstad (Adam Kok III Building); bid envelopes must be clearly marked with bid number.
• Briefing/clarification: Compulsory briefing on 05 October 2026 at 11:00, Adam Kok III Building, 75 Hope Street. Questions may be submitted in writing to Andiswa Mahlaka up to 5 days before deadline; clarifications will be issued at least 11 days before the closing date.
• Documents to submit (returnable documents): completed and signed MBD forms, CSD printout or CSD number, SARS Tax PIN/TCS, CIDB registration, proof of municipal rates, BBBEE documentation if applicable, and proof of registrations (CSD, VAT, WCA) as required.
