Overview

Procurement of civil works for the East Grid High Risk IMBA/E CT Replacement project, including foundations, steelwork and yard stone at Avon, Bloedrivier, Impala, Mersey and Tugela substations. Bidders should be civil contractors with substations experience (high-voltage civil works, foundation modifications, earth mats) and a track record in safety, environmental compliance and Eskom SHEQ requirements. Site briefing is on 18 June 2026 at Maxwell Street, Sunninghill, Sandton; documents are available from 09 June 2026.

Requirements

• Experience in civil works for high-voltage substations (275kV/400kV) and modification of existing foundations.
• Ability to implement earth mats and related foundation work as specified; perform yard stone reinstatement.
• Compliance with Eskom Safety, Health and Environmental Specification and the Environmental Management Programme (EMPr); appoint a Contractor Environmental Officer and maintain site records (complaints, incidents, waste, daily diary).
• Prepare and implement Method Statements and an Emergency Response Plan; provide training and site posters; manage waste, hazardous substances and asbestos as required.
• Provide on-site facilities (site camp, ablution; barricading; signage) and ensure environmental and safety documentation is up-to-date.
• Complete and submit the Declaration on Environmental Requirements Pro-forma prior to commencement; adhere to site demarcation and training requirements.
• Pre-qualifications/registrations to verify in tender docs (CIDB, tax clearance, CSD).
