Overview

French (West African dialect) translation of 40 interview transcripts from French to English for HSRC’s Youth Futures Portfolio in Senegal, delivered as MS Word documents within 3 weeks. The HSRC seeks a translation service with experience in academic/social science materials and African francophone dialects to translate transcripts from Dakar interviews, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and appropriate nuance. Output will be shared via MS OneDrive.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years professional translation experience in social science/development contexts; capability with Senegalese French influence.
• Experience translating academic/socio-economic materials; familiarity with youth, work, education terminology.
• Ability to maintain accuracy, tone, and context; nominate a project manager; deliver transcripts within 3 weeks.
• Return translations in MS Word; confidentiality upheld.
• Proposal must include: translation competency test, project management narrative, team CVs, and client reference letters.
• Quotation to be on a per-word basis for all 40 transcripts; include a company profile.

• Submit a detailed proposal including:
  • Competency test: translate a sample document provided to you.
  • Short project-management narrative (max 2 pages) and approach for West African dialects.
  • Team composition with CVs and roles.
  • Client references on letterhead.
  • Per-word rate for all 40 transcripts (see TOR).
• Include mandatory bidding documents: SBD 6.1 (Preferential Points) and Standard Bidding Document Annexure A (Bidder’s Disclosure) (see documents).
• Deliverables must be shared via MS OneDrive; HSRC will provide 40 transcripts in MS Word format.
