Overview

Procurement of OpenStack Cluster Support Services to deploy, optimize and support SANSA’s OpenStack cluster (Hartebeeshoek) with a multi-node, multi-vendor environment. Ideal bidders: firms with enterprise OpenStack deployment experience, design/architecture capabilities, automation and DevOps practices, monitoring, security/compliance expertise, and fixed 2-year support; contract value is up to R50m with potential extension.

Requirements

• Proven experience deploying and supporting large-scale OpenStack in production (multi compute/GPU nodes; petabyte-scale storage).
• Architecture and deployment capabilities for high-availability OpenStack; familiarity with distributions (e.g., Red Hat, Canonical).
• Hands-on knowledge of OpenStack services (Keystone, Barbican, Designate, Horizon, Cinder, Glance, Nova, Swift, Neutron, Magnum, Ironic) and Ceph.
• Automation/DevOps: Ansible, Terraform, Helm, Kolla; CI/CD for OpenStack configuration and lifecycle.
• Monitoring/Observability: integrate Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/OpenSearch.
• Security/Compliance: implement best-practice security models; 24/7 incident response for critical issues; defined SLAs.
• Deliverables cover Design, Implementation, Testing, Training (remote or on-site), and Maintenance (2-year support with potential yearly extension); minimum project team of three (two seniors).

• Documents to submit: complete returnable schedules (SBD1, SBD4, SBD6, SCC, GCC) and pricing documents; Pricing Schedule to be in a separate envelope (see Bid Document-OpenStack Cluster Support Services.pdf); Form of Offer and Acceptance (C1.2) separate from the bid document.
• Registrations: Tax compliance (SARS PIN or CSD registration); provide CSD Summary; ensure compliance with PFMA and related procurement regulations.
