Precision manufacture and supply of NaI target pellet compaction and cold-pressure welding tooling to iThemba LABS Faure Western Cape

Overview

Procurement of precision tooling for NaI target pellet production, including Brushing Jig, Punch & Die Set, and Pressure Welding Jig assemblies for iThemba LABS Faure. The NRF invites bids from suppliers with proven capability in precision tooling, CNC machining, heat treatment, surface finishing, and quality verification, under a two‑stage process with confidentiality NDA for Stage 2 drawings. Submissions are electronic to Scm3@tlabs.ac.za and close 06 November 2026 at 16:00. Deliverables must meet ISO/SABS standards, with delivery 6 weeks from award and payment terms of 30 days. Requirements

• Stage 1: demonstrate capability; sign confidentiality/Non‑Disclosure for Stage 2 drawings.
• Three or more comparable precision tooling projects in the last five years.
• Access to CNC machining and precision finishing; provide equipment list and tolerances.
• Experience machining hardened tool steels (Böhler K110) and heat treatment capability with certificates.
• Surface finishing and assembly/functional verification capabilities; provide evidence.
• Technical compliance statement; provide material, heat treatment, hardness and dimensional inspection certificates.
• Deliverables include material certificates, heat treatment certificates, hardness tests, and dimensional inspection reports.
• SBD 4 and SBD 6.1 forms; B‑BBEE certificate or sworn affidavit; CSD summary; tax compliance.
• Compliance with PPPFA 80/20, GCC, and any special conditions.
• On‑time delivery (6 weeks from award) and fully assembled tooling ready for use.
