REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) FOR SOLUTIONS FOR FORESTRY THINNING OPERATIONS

Overview

SAFCOL is seeking information via an RFI on solutions for forestry thinning operations to identify available technologies, equipment and supplier capabilities for mechanised, ground-based, manual preparation and difficult-terrain thinning. This stand-alone information-gathering exercise will inform potential future procurement, including market readiness, commercial models and performance benchmarks.

Requirements

• SA-based service providers capable of supplying thinning services/equipment; provide Company Profile.
• Indicate whether you are an established service provider or an emerging entrant.
• Thinning experience: number of projects in last 15 years; current engagements; client references not older than 15 years.
• List available thinning solutions/equipment (mechanised, ground-based, manual prep for forwarders, difficult-terrain); include specific technologies such as yarders, winches, tethered systems, etc.
• Provide performance metrics (productivity in m³/hour/day; safety program).
• Provide indicative pricing (R/m³) and rental/lease availability; pricing is for planning only.
• Complete Annexure A service provider response form and B-BBEE documentation; provide CSD supplier number and tax registrations.
• Clearly mark confidential information where applicable.
