Overview

PRASA seeks to appoint a service provider for maintenance and repairs of diesel-electric locomotives for East London and Port Elizabeth for 12 months on an as-when-required basis. Bidders with locomotive maintenance capabilities and SA public procurement compliance should consider bidding (including experience with diesel-electric locomotives, access to suitable workshops, and ability to perform scheduled A/B/C examinations and unscheduled repairs).

Requirements

• Proven experience in maintenance and repair of diesel-electric locomotives, including A/B/C examinations and brake/valve programmes (as per pricing schedule).
• Ability to service GE/GM locomotives and perform listed components/repairs (e.g., traction motors, control systems, cooling, etc.).
• Certified workshop capability with skilled personnel and necessary tooling/spares for scheduled and unscheduled works.
• Compliance with PRASA procurement rules, confidentiality obligations, and related contractual terms.
• Tax compliance and CSD registration; provide SARS Tax Compliance Status (TCS) or PIN, and CSD details for all parties (including joint ventures/sub-contractors).
• If bidding as a joint venture/consortium, a signed JV/consortium agreement with % split and responsibilities; otherwise written intention to form such an agreement (to be confirmed if awarded).
• Adhere to general contractual conditions, security screening, and data protection provisions.
