Overview

PRASA seeks to appoint a service provider for Medical Scheme Brokerage Services for a 36-month period. Bidders should have corporate medical brokerage experience and be accredited with major SA medical schemes (Discovery, Bonitas, Sizwe Hosmed; Transmed is not required). The service must cover all PRASA sites nationwide (9 provinces) and manage member advisory, scheme administration, communications, and reporting.

Requirements

• Mandatory accreditation with Discovery, Bonitas and Sizwe Hosmed; ability to operate PRASA-wide.
• Minimum 1 dedicated consultant on PRASA sites; monthly billing reconciliations with schemes and payroll; call centre/help desk; annual road shows; at least one annual Wellness Day (costs in broker’s scope); induction of new members.
• Scope includes Medical Scheme membership management, 24/7 accessibility (desirable), annual actuary valuation, reporting, and strategic/marketing services; quarterly and annual reporting; close collaboration with HR and EAP services.
• Coverage across all PRASA sites (9 provinces) including all employees and fixed-term contractors; dedicated contract management structure; adherence to PRASA Health and Safety, privacy and confidentiality standards.
• Compliance obligations: registration on the Central Supplier Database (CSD); SARS tax compliance (including Tax Compliance Status or PIN) and compliance verification; confidentiality and data protection; adherence to POPIA-like provisions; bids must include required forms and returnable documents.

How to Apply

• Retrieve the RFP from National Treasury e-Tenders (www.etenders.gov.za). Compulsory briefing: 31 July 2026, 10:00, at 30 Wolmarans Street, Braamfontein. Closing date: 19 August 2026, 12:00. (Master RFP: Invitation and Timetable)

• Submit a sealed bid to PRASA Tender Office, 30 Wolmarans Street, Braamfontein. Include Part A (Mandatory Requirements) and Part B (Technical/Functional) in English, in an A4 bind, plus 1 original and copies and an electronic copy.
