Overview

RFQ for the building façade renovations at the CSIR Pretoria, Scientia Campus. Quotation is invited from facade/general building contractors with CIDB 2GB+ and related glazing capability to execute exterior painting, window refurbishment, tinting, scaffolding, and associated works, with completion targeted by 30 July 2026 (Annexure A).

Requirements

• Essential returnable documents:
  • Annexure C: Standard Bidding Document (SBD) 1 Form
  • Annexure D: Standard Bidding Document (SBD) 4 Form
  • Annexure E: Preference Points Award Form
  • Annexure F: Mutual Non-Disclosure Agreement
  • A SABS glazing certificate of compliance
• Mandatory returnable documents:
  • Annexure B: Bill of Quantities
  • Valid letter of good standing from Department of Employment and Labour or approved private insurer
  • CIDB registration with 2GB or higher
  • Minimum three contactable references/completion certificates (2021–2026) in General Building
• CIDB and collaboration rules:
  • CIDB grading 2GB+ required; joint ventures allowed with specified lead partner and grading rules (Section 9)
• Compliance prerequisites:
  • Tax compliance (SARS TCS PIN or CSD registration)
  • Central Supplier Database registration for consortia/sub-contractors
  • Health and safety requirements, scaffolding certification, and daily permits on site
  • Adherence to POPI/privacy and confidentiality terms (NDA)

How to Apply

• Briefing: compulsory online briefing on Wednesday, 17 June 2026, 11:00–12:00 via Teams (link provided in RFQ).
• Enquiries: last date for clarifications 19 June 2026, 16:30.
• Submission: electronically to tender@csir.co.za; use RFQ No 6589.2/24/06/2026 and RFQ Description as subject; max 25 MB per email (split into multiple emails if needed).
• Documents to submit (per attachments):
  • Annexure C, D, E, F (signed where required) and Annexure B BoQ
  • CIDB registration, proof of good standing, BBBEE documentation, and three references
  • Any glazing-related certificates (per Annexure A scope)
• Additional: RFQ validity is 90 calendar days from closing date; CSIR may extend or modify terms per special conditions.
