Overview

Appointment of a suitable qualified Waste Management or Removal Specialist to remove and dispose of asbestos waste at a licensed landfill site. Bidders should be experienced asbestos waste contractors, with Type 2 Department of Labour registration, and capable of handling eight depot consignments from JW network to a licensed landfill, including waste manifests and weighbridge documentation. A mandatory briefing is required; non-compulsory depot site visits are scheduled around 14–16 July 2026.

Requirements

• Qualified asbestos waste removal contractor with experience; minimum five years in the field.
• Registered as Type 2 with the Department of Labour (DOS) and copies of valid asbestos handling certificates.
• At least two client reference letters on client’s letterhead detailing asbestos work performed.
• CV of the specialist or company profile showing relevant experience.
• PPE and protective clothing provided for workers; permits such as a valid Hazardous Transport Certificate.
• Submission must be on company letterhead; PDFs only; JV documents if applicable.
• Not in the service of the state; not blacklisted; CSD registration required.
• Complete BOQ/specification; attach datasheets, certifications, accreditation where applicable.
• Administrative returns: Original tax clearance, BBBEE certificate/affidavit, municipal rates, MBD forms (MBD 4, 8, 9, 6.1), company registration docs with directors’ IDs.

• Briefing: Mandatory briefing at Avalon JW Depot (65 Ntemi Piliso Street, Newtown) on 14 July 2026 (10:30); non-compulsory site visits for eight depots on dates listed in the attached specification.
