Overview

Procurement of a portable bioassay measurement instrument capable of operating as a whole-body counter for nuclear emergency response, to be supplied, installed, calibrated and supported for Eskom Koeberg for 12 months. The system must meet ISO 23588:2024 and ISO 28218:2010, include gamma spectroscopy and radionuclide identification/quantification, traceable calibration sources, a 12-hour battery backup, operation from 5°C to 40°C, and provide on-site training, manuals and QA/QC documentation. Bidders should have capabilities in radiological instrumentation, installation/commissioning, calibration, and training for nuclear safety contexts, with demonstrated safety/compliance credentials.

Requirements

• Ability to supply the portable bioassay instrument and provide installation, calibration and on-site training, plus calibration sources with traceability certificates and a QC program.
• Compliance with ISO 23588:2024 and ISO 28218:2010 and performance criteria (≤30 min measurement with specified detection limits).
• System capabilities: gamma spectroscopy, radionuclide identification/quantification, 12-hour battery back-up, operation between 5°C and 40°C; provision of all hardware/software, user manuals and maintenance documentation.
• QA/QC, warranties, and reporting: service reports, calibration certificates, spares, and a defined maintenance/support plan.
• SHEQ/legislation: COIDA compliance and Occupational Health & Safety requirements; site access and safety equipment provisions.
