Overview

Procurement of data storage servers, monitor servers and high-speed networking equipment to expand and integrate a Ceph storage cluster at CHPC, with on-site installation and five-year support. Bidders must be OEMs or authorised resellers, capable of delivering to the CHPC in Cape Town, meeting extensive storage, networking and support specs, and providing robust pre- and post- sales documentation.

Requirements

• OEM or authorised reseller status for required hardware.
• Storage expansion to about 24PB ( phased), compatible with Ceph on Ubuntu (OS preinstalled as required), 100Gbps OAM/data networking, OOBM with IPMI/Redfish, and PXE support; racks limited to 2U per storage node; max 40 kg per node.
• Hardware specs: 16-core+ CPUs, 256GB+ RAM, 24TB HDDs (non-SMR), 3840GB NVMe for cache, 480GB OS SSD, 100GbE NICs, 5-year warranty; OAM/OS/network integration.
• Networking gear: 100Gbps switches, compatible with Nvidia/Mellanox/Cisco/FS.com; appropriate ToR/mid‑rack switches and cabling.
• Delivery: on-site to CHPC, with lead times (≤30 days from PO; ≤6 months total from PO); unpacking, racking, Ubuntu 26.04 installed, with full documentation.
• Support and warranties: 5-year, next-business-day on-site support; OEM warranty where applicable.
• Documentation and references: data sheets, speed tests; minimum three contactable references; OEM/reseller proof; CSD registration; SARS tax compliance (PIN/TCS).
• Bid process/compliance: two-envelope system; SBD 1, 4, 6.1; pricing on SBD 3.2; 60-day tender validity; adherence to PPPFA/BBEE preferences.
