Overview

The University of Fort Hare invites bids for the appointment of one multi-disciplinary built environment consulting firm/consortium to undertake facilities condition assessments and property valuations for fourteen former Public Works houses donated to UFH in Alice. Bidders should be able to provide integrated services across architecture, engineering, quantity surveying and valuation, with delivery within a two‑month period and produce condition reports and independent property valuations aligned to South African standards, DHET norms and heritage considerations (where applicable).

Requirements

• Mandatory registrations/certifications: Central Supplier Database (CSD) registration, original Tax Clearance, BBBEE information, and professional indemnity cover (R5 million).
• Qualified team: lead professional, architect, quantity surveyor, professional property valuer, plus mechanical, electrical and civil engineers as sub‑consultants; all must be properly registered with relevant councils.
• Experience: proven track record in facilities condition assessments and property valuations; references for similar scope.
• Deliverables and standards: comprehensive condition assessments, maintenance/refurbishment planning, indicative cost estimates, and signed valuation reports; adherence to green design and heritage constraints where relevant.
• Procurement/evaluation: adherence to UFH SCM policy; project to be delivered within two months; 80/20 price/qualifications with specific goals (e.g., female ownership) considered for points.
