THE DESIGN, SUPPLY, DELIVERY, INSTALLATION, TESTING AND COMMISSIONING OF A 500 kVA BACKUP/STANDBY GENERATOR SET WITH AUTOMATIC CHANGEOVER SWITCH

Overview

Procurement of the design, supply, delivery, installation, testing and commissioning of a 500 kVA backup/standby generator set with an automatic changeover switch (ATS) at Durban Main Centre. Industry: electrical/mechanical engineering and installation; bidders should be CIDB-registered with a 3EB or higher, hold a valid tax clearance, be registered on the Central Supplier Database, and demonstrate relevant generator/ATS/LV experience. Mandatory attendance at a compulsory clarification meeting and a site visit are required; project location is Durban, duration six months. (see TE/2026/08/3289/9834/RFP)

Requirements

• CIDB: contractor grading designation 3EB or higher and CIDB registration; joint ventures must meet CIDB requirements.
• Mandatory certifications: Named Installation Electrician with wireman licence/Trade Test; Named Health and Safety Officer with an accepted OHS qualification.
• Functionality: minimum 85 points to proceed to price/preference evaluation; evaluation criteria include Execution Methodology, Project Programme, Key Personal Experience, and Company Previous Experience.
• Returnable documentation: attendance at compulsory site briefing (T2.2-01), CIDB grading (T2.2-02), CVs/affidavits for key personnel (T2.2-03 to T2.2-06), client references (T2.2-06), proof of good standing (T2.2-08), and related enterprise questionnaires (T2.2-11 to T2.2-16).
• Compliance: tax clearance, B-BBEE documentation, CIDB certificate, CSD registration, Workmen’s Compensation good standing; no alternative tender offers; procurement in English; adherence to confidentiality and anti-collusion requirements.
