Overview

The Repairs to portable stainless steel water pipeline in the pipeline rack from Berth 1 to Berth 10, Island View, Port of Durban, for six months, are being procured by Transnet National Ports Authority. Bidders should be capable civil/engineering/construction contractors with CIDB 3ME or higher (or able to attain it), plus required certifications (PIRB, SACPCMP) and welding capability; JV arrangements must meet CIDB rules; and bidders must meet site safety and regulatory requirements and register on the CSD.

Requirements

• CIDB: contractor grading designation of 3ME or higher (or capable before evaluation); every JV member must be CIDB-registered; lead partner not lower than one level below the required class; combined rating must meet the tendered scope (3ME or higher).
• Technical pre-qualification: valid PIRB registration and plumber’s trade certificate with authorization to issue COCs; SACPCMP registration for the Safety Officer; welding trade test certificate for personnel performing welding.
• Certifications verified: professional registrations and trade qualifications validated by the Employer; SACPCMP and PIRB verifications online.
• Safety/health: adherence to Annexure A contractor Health and Safety guidelines and Island View SHE specifications (PPE, risk assessments, safety plans, inductions).
• Administrative: self-register on the National Treasury Central Supplier Database (CSD) and provide Supplier Number and Unique reference; ensure all returnable documents are completed; attend compulsory briefing.

• Attend Compulsory Tender Clarification Meeting on 06 August 2026 at 237 Mahatma Gandhi Road, Durban, and participate in the site walk (PPE: safety boots, vests, helmet, etc.) (see RFP doc).
• Register on the Transnet e-Tender Submission Portal, log intent to bid, and upload documents before closing; late submissions are not accepted (portal details in the RFP).
• Submit Returnable Documents (T2.1 List, T2.2 Returnable Schedules) and attend to the T2.2-01 Certificate of Attendance at the briefing (RFP document).
• Register on the National Treasury CSD and provide Supplier Number and Unique Registration Reference in Tender Data.
