Overview

Procurement of the replacement of the access booms at Cape Town International Airport for a 12-month period, run as a construction NEC3 contract; CIDB 4ME or higher bidders are invited to bid. Suitable bidders are construction/engineering firms with experience in installation/maintenance of access control gates and related equipment, capable of fabrication, removal and commissioning within an airport environment.

Requirements

• CIDB contractor grading of 4ME or higher.
• Compulsory briefing and site inspection (23 July 2026 at 10:00, CTIA; attendance mandatory).
• Tax and supplier compliance: SARS PIN, Tax Compliance Status, and CSD/KYC requirements; separate TCS for each consortium member.
• Insurance: employer or contractor insurance as defined; aviation liability cover (min R300,000) for OPEX/airside works; proof before start and annually.
• B-BBEE and tax clearance: compliant B-BBEE certificate or sworn affidavit; JV requires consolidated certificate.
• Functionality evaluation: minimum 84/100; requires proof of prior experience, CVs with qualifications, at least 2 references, and appropriate site/technical qualifications (e.g., electrician/millwright where specified).
• Returnable documents: complete all returnables, include Schedule of Deviations if any, one original plus one copy and an electronic copy (USB).
• Health and safety: adherence to OHS Act and COID; mandatory OHS agreement; baseline risk assessment and SHE documentation.
• Price and award: fixed prices for the contract duration; 12-week tender validity; PPPFA/80/20 preference scoring with B-BBEE considerations.

• Deadline: 17 August 2026 at 12:00 (closing time stated in the tender documents; see Rec 74282 Maintenance of Boom Gates for reference).
• Submission: bids deposited in the Cape Town International Airport Tender Box (Southern Office Block, Ground Floor); include Bid Register details. Include one Original and one Copy, sealed and clearly marked, plus an electronic USB copy.
• Documents to submit: official tender forms, Pricing Schedule (Part C2), Service Information/Scope (Part C3), Site Information (Part C4), Form of Offer and Acceptance (NEC3 data), and Schedule of Deviations (if any).
• Pre-qualification: CIDB 4ME+; SARS TCS/PIN; CSD number if no TCS.
• Briefing/site visit: compulsory briefing 23 July 2026 (10:00) at CTIA; site inspection immediately after.
