VIRTUALIZATION TECHNOLOGY REQUIREMENTS AND CAPABILITIES FOR SABCClosed

Overview

RFI to gather information on virtualization technology requirements and capabilities to support SABC’s on-premises virtualization environment and future cloud-adoption pathway. This is an information-gathering exercise for virtualization/hypervisor solutions; responders should have industry experience in hypervisor management, storage integration, and related certifications, with insight into legacy systems and on-prem storage.

Requirements

• Centralized management VM/server with automated load balancing across hosted hypervisors and HA clustering.
• Multiple VM snapshot capabilities.
• Support for multiple virtualized data centers across geographic locations.
• NetBackup VM backups of entire VM with backup-licensing cost considerations.
• Dynamic Resource Scheduling for CPU/memory load balancing across hypervisors.
• Virtualization of multiple networks and SAN storage array support with centralized management.
• Clarify whether licensing is perpetual or subscription-based.
• Preference for in-house hosted solutions (not full cloud or hybrid cloud) due to long-term data growth costs.
• Real-time CPU/memory/network/disk utilization reporting and dashboards.
• Hot-add support for virtual CPU, memory, and disks; compatibility with Hitachi/ HP appliances.
• Certification requirements: HPE Certified (DL380 Gen12); Hitachi SAN Storage and Brocade SAN switch certified; iSCSI SAN/NAS support.
• Demonstration of the proposed solution; SA footprint and client list; migration plan from VMware with documentation.
• Formal training for 2+ SABC administrators.
